Here’s a bit about me:
I lived and taught in Florida for many years before moving to Georgia. My husband, Jay, and I and my beloved dachshund, Bunny, live in a beautiful area at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. We are surrounded by the most beautiful trees and views. When the wind blows, as if often does, the trees just sing. I truly love the music of trees.
I’ve always dabbled in writing and now I have the time to indulge in my favorite past times, reading and writing. I’m a collector of reference books. My husband thinks I have too many books, but honestly, can there ever be too many?
I’m in the process of finishing my novel, When the Songbird Sings.
The novel is about a beautiful mural and about the young girl who discovers a century old story hidden inside the painting. The artist had cleverly carved the story beneath the painting. The words can only be revealed when traced over with a pencil and tracing paper. As each part of the story is revealed, the novel flashes back to the incidents in real time. How this story affects the girl and her family is part of the mystery.
Historical speculative fiction. Release date, December 2019
I have a Master’s Degree in Education from Florida State University. In 1997, I was awarded a United States Intellectual Patent for my Interactive Reading series, The Magic Minute Reader. This interactive series combines sign language with sight words to facilitate language development in children who are developmentally delayed.
I’m in the process of editing two Young Adult books which will be republished in the near future.
Thank you for visiting. I always follow back.
Sincerely, Kathy Lauren Miller (I go by Lauren, usually)
